The world’s tallest bonfire will leave you breathless

To commemorate John the Baptist’s birth and to celebrate the arrival of summer, the townspeople of Alesund, Norway gather each year to construct a tower made out of stacked wood pallets. What’s even more impressive is the fact that the tower is built using only human muscle (in 2010 the townspeople set a world record for the tallest bonfire at 132.71 ft.).

After spending hours constructing the tower, people standing nearby and boats circling the pier upon which the tower is built wait eagerly until someone volunteers to set this beast on fire.
