‘Single Loser’ mashup puts the smackdown on Kanye West

The 2015 Grammy Awards offered a bizarre mix of half naked men wearing horns and bejeweled face masks, a priceless wry smirk courtesy of Prince, and Kanye’s near repeat of the 2009 MTV VMA’s where he interrupted Taylor Swift’s acceptance speech for winning the award for Best Female video. Sadly, and burying the night’s poignant and heartfelt theme of “Like books and black lives, albums still matter,” Kanye’s almost-but-not-quite interruption of Beck’s acceptance speech is probably what the 2015 Grammy Awards will be best remembered for.

Fortunately, a savvy Soundcloud user going by the name of ‘Beckyonce’ created a mashup of Beyonce‘s Single Ladies (Put a Ring on It) and Beck‘s Loser. In one brilliant edit, Beckyonce’s Single Loser (Put a Beck on It) puts the smackdown on Kanye’s childish onstage/backstage tirades and reminds us that the musical contributions of Beck and Beyonce are, at times, surprisingly complementary and without doubt, worthy of equal praise and admiration.
