Each year, Super Bowl Sunday brings together family and friends where beer chugging, armchair bravado reigns supreme. It also attracts all kinds of viewers for a variety of reasons. From football fans and foodies to gamblers and neighborhood moochers, Super Bowl Sunday is an American past-time for good or ill. The occasion also marks the only time when Americans actually look forward to watching commercials. And this year had plenty of buzz-worthy content, especially when it comes to featured movie trailers, which we’ve compiled here for your viewing pleasure.
The latest trailer for Jurassic World features Chris Pratt training raptors, Chris Pratt running away from a mysterious, Frankenstein-esque dinosaur called Indominus Rex, and in case we forgot to mention, Christ Pratt leading the charge against said Rex. The trailer also gives viewers additional information about how Chris Pratt can calmly (and handsomely) order around and train raptors while not getting killed. Well, now we know. He is the raptor whisperer, and with this the movie just became outlandish.
And of course, the park’s fencing is predictably inadequate and those bored billionaires are at it once again seeking to get their game on hunting dinosaurs until the tables are turned on them. “It is killing for sport,” says Pratt’s character as he cradles a dinosaur. The guests in the park are in danger and some boys in a protective glass ball are about to be attacked by Indominus Rex. Pratt states that they have to “go after it, with everything we got.” Meaning, send in the raptor squad that Chris Pratt trained. Oh, and then there are the flying dinosaurs who swoop in on hapless tourists.
The park opens June 12, 2015.
The Super Bowl trailer for this flick is quick and confusing, and in which shiny spaceships and futuristic looking cities hint at a world where “anything is possible.” Sadly, we must consult a summary courtesy of Disney Movie Trailers: “Bound by a shared destiny, former boy-genius Frank (George Clooney), jaded by disillusionment, and Casey (Britt Robertson), a bright, optimistic teen bursting with scientific curiosity, embark on a danger-filled mission to unearth the secrets of an enigmatic place somewhere in time and space known only as “Tomorrowland.” What they must do there changes the world—and them—forever.” Put simply, a world that looks promising until it’s not. As you can see in the trailer, the CGI looks beautiful, but unfortunately, very little else is revealed.
Tomorrowland hits theaters May 22, 2015.
According to the latest trailer, it looks like Lena Headey won’t be the only Game of Thrones actress playing the role of Sarah Connor. The Mother of Dragons herself, Emilia Clarke, will also play Sarah Connor in the upcoming film Terminator Genisys. Unsurprisingly, Sarah’s past and future can’t be left alone. In an alternate reality, Sarah is orphaned due to a Terminator attack, after which she is raised by a T-800, played by none other than Arnold Schwarzenegger. With buses flipping over, a barrage of gun shots and Arnold Schwarzenegger jumping out of helicopters, Terminator Genisys looks to be the perfect movie for thrill-seekers.
Yet we can’t help but wonder why the ruler of the seven kingdoms needs an aging robot when she has three perfectly badass dragons and an army of unsullied? Discuss.
Terminator Genisys opens July 1, 2015.
The only reason I gave this trailer a chance is because of “The Dude.” Sorry, I meant Jeff Bridges, whose movies are almost always enjoyable to watch. Still, with great special effects, colorful villains, and Jeff Bridges, this one might stand a chance of being, in the least, fun to watch.
Seventh Son opens February 6, 2015.
Fifty Shades of Grey
A wildly popular novel turned film with plenty of exposed skin in a variety of salacious poses with two attractive young actors…well, you get the idea.
Fifty Shades of Grey opens on Valentines Day.
